About us
We’re fighting to make sure people in Scotland get a fair share of our renewable energy wealth. Our Energy. Our Future. Our Power.
Our Power is calling on the next Scottish government to make sure people in Scotland get a fair share of our energy wealth. We’re bringing together Scottish communities, workers and organisations to raise the ambition of the next government and create a fairer energy system in Scotland, one that makes us all better off. All the changes we are calling for are practical, popular and in the power of the Scottish government.
Why we exist
Scotland has everything it needs to win big from the energy transition: wind, skilled workers, and a proud industrial heritage. But we’re missing out.
- Communities see renewable projects built on their doorstep, but don’t share in the profits
- Workers were promised green jobs, but too many haven’t materialised
- Public wealth is being lost, while other countries cash in on Scotland’s energy
But, these problems aren’t inevitable. They’re policy choices. And, it’s time to change them.
What We’re Fighting For
We’re calling on the next Scottish Government to think bigger and make sure the renewable energy boom delivers real benefits for everyone.
That means:
Putting wealth back into Scotland
We’re demanding the Scottish government take a 20% stake in offshore wind projects and using the profits to fund public services and support local communities, not private shareholders.
Powering up communities
We need to empower councils and communities by giving them the backing they need to own and invest in local energy and using that income for things people actually need, from housing to transport.
Built in Scotland
Workers in Scotland were promised that the transition to renewables would mean good jobs, but those jobs haven’t materialised. By investing in a strong Scottish wind manufacturing industry, we can have secure, well-paid jobs that support Scotland’s economy.
The Bottom Line
Scotland’s renewable energy should be a national success story, not a missed opportunity.
We can all be better off from the transition to renewable energy. But none of this can happen without all of us working together and making our voice and power heard.
It’s time to take back Our Power.
